We have always been a baseball family.  Mr. T has played baseball since childhood (and he watches A LOT OF IT!) and coaches our boys all summer and fall. Our boys have been asking to play football for about 2 years now.  We finally gave in and thought it might be a good idea to let them give it a try.  Being the worrisome mom that I am, I was a little nervous about my babies playing such a rough game.  So after much discussion at home we signed both boys up for “Flag” football. A reasonable compromise, no? 

Coincidentally, boy #1 is on the 11 year old Packers and boy #2 is also on the Packers, in the 8-9 year old league.  I guess that makes it easy as to what colors to wear on game night, since they both play on the same nights!  Of course, Mr. T arrives at the games decked out from head to toe in the nausea inducing green and gold.  I however will not wear those colors.  Not because I don’t want to support my boys, but…I just don’t look good in green.  Yeah, that’s it!  ( Do you know that I am from a family of very strong, die hard Bear fans??)  While we shopped at Dicks Sporting Goods today, boy #1 asked me enthusiastically to purchase a cheese head to wear to his game.  I pretended I did not hear him as I walked away towards the shoe department!  “What was that, honey?”

I guess I  need not worry about my boys being “hurt” or being the victim of some big football bully.  This past Thursday, boy #1 was playing the Bears (hee, hee, hee) and I was not paying that close of attention and suddenly, I saw one of the Bears walking off the field, crying!  (If he were our child, my hubby would have told him “there is no crying in football!”)  He apparently got illegally tackled….by my boy.  Whooops. Cry baby. 

Here are some fun photos of game night.  Both boys had the opportunity to play quarterback, and I must say, they are both really good at football!  They are both natural athletes and for those of you that know my family well, you will know that they of course inherited said talent from me.
