When I was a little girl, I remember asking my Dad what the difference was between a Republican and a Democrat.   I was quite young and trying to help me understand a little bit, my Dad told me “Democrats fight more for the working class, the middle class and families. Republicans fight for big business and rich people.”  OK.  I guess that makes me a Democrat.  I am not a large business owner and certainly not rich.  By his definition, I fall into the categorie of Democrat however,  I have never liked “labels” and if as an adult, someone were to ask me which one I am, I would respond that I am neither. I vote for the candidate that I like and the candidate that most defines my values.

Somehow I ended up on mailing lists for both parties and get emails on a daily basis from the campaign headquarters of both McCain and Obama.  Today, I received one from each, both commenting on last nights debate, saying the election is looming and now more than ever, they need my help.  Now is the time to come forward and help the nominee win the election next month.  Both emails were generally the same context.  Here is the difference:

Obama camp asked me for a donation of $5.00 (Five dollars!)

McCain camp asked for a donation of $2,000 (Two thousand dollars!)

I guess daddy was right!

Oh, that’s funny!! If you notice other differences keep updating us! I would love to hear how they differ and what they are both sending out!

  • It certainly is intresting…..isn’t it?

That’s a great connection! Just today, my kids asked the same type of question. How IRONIC that the donation amounts coincided with your Dad’s explanation all those years ago :)
