What is in a “name?”

Once I decided to actually go through with starting a blog, I needed to come up with a “name” for it. I struggled with it for a few weeks, even asking advice of others. Some names with “Teenie” in it kept coming to me.  I figured it must have been right, if it kept popping into my head.  I have had a few people say to me, “why Teenie Tidbits?”  So I thought I would fill you in! 

When I was a little girl, I’m guessing around the age of one, I was very… “little.”  Short, petite, tiny! (Not the case anymore, in the tiny department anyway…I am still short!) 

 I will want my Mom to verify this to be sure (Mom, feel free to comment on the bottom of this post! Hint…hint!) but one of my Uncles dubbed me “Teenie” as in, ”wow, she sure is teenie, tiny!”  My first name is Kristine. KrisTEEN, KrisTEENIE!  Well, Teenie just stuck, and now here I am, 39 years old, still short and still being called Teenie.

 My parents call me Teenie, my Grandpa calls me Teenie, my brother calls me Teenie, my sister in law calls me Teenie (or Teen)  and most of my uncles and aunts call me Teenie.  As a matter of fact, when someone in my family calls me Kristine, I immediately think they are angry.  I even had a car in my early twenties with personalized plates that said “TEENIE.”  My Dad called it the Teenie-Mobile!  I still have the license plate hanging in my garage!

So that is why this blog is called Teenie Tidbits!  It is written by me, Teenie, and it contains tidbits of my life!  Teenie Tidbits!  So there you have it! What are your nicknames from childhood, and does your family still call you that?
